Man, This Weekend

Pretty solid! I started talking to this homegirl that just graduated from a private school, her name’s similar to mine, and apparently we used to play violas together in elementary school. Then I flew my uncle down from NC so he could see his daughter get married. And man, last night I got to go to my favorite restaurant, Golden Corral with my grandparents from Orlando, and there’s nothing like talking about the Punic Wars and Hannibal’s Celtiberian conquests and subsequent march on Rome with your grandfather that appreciates the same thing and used to write about it when he was your age. And then my boy Javon, who used to play in our church, came back and tore it up today on the organ, so it was cool to get my fingers a little break from the keys and get back on the guitar. And I know next weekend’s looking slick because I put in ten hours overtime this week to solidify it, and it’s my birthday. Just positivity all around. Sometimes it’s cool to just kick it with the family, though.

Family Dollar

So in five hours I start my job as the Assistant Manager of a Family Dollar. I’m really excited, y’all. Apparently in three months I have the option, since they’ve opened up so many stores recently, to be the General Manager of my own store. That’s insane, I’d be 19 years old and the general manager of a store. I think that’s a little scary. I mean, I’m not trying to brag, but when I truly think to myself ‘gosh, these are all the things I’ve done with my life (first full time job, buy a car, get my own apartment, etc.) after just a year out of high school’, I get really excited with what I’m gonna accomplish in the years to come.
